Application Fee: Unreserved and OBC applicants need to pay application fee of Rs. 40/-. SC/ST/EXSM/PWD/Women/Minority candidates/Economically Backward Classes are exempted from payment of fee. Fee must be paid in form of Demand Draft / Pay Order from any Nationalized Bank, or crossed Indian Postal Order from any Post Office drawn in favour of “Assistant Personnel Officer(Recruitment), Railway Recruitment Cell, Southern Railway” payable at Chennai
Selection Process: Eligible candidates will be selected on the basis of performance in Written Test and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) followed by Medical Examination.
Written Examination: The duration of the Written Examination shall be 2 (TWO) Hours. The Question Paper for the Written Examination shall be based on Class-X level consisting of 150 Multiple Choice objective type questions aimed to assess the General Knowledge / Awareness, Mathematics, Reasoning, etc. and The question paper shall be printed in Hindi, Urdu & English and in the Regional Languages, viz. Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada only.
Negative marking: There will be negative marking for wrong answers. 1/3rd mark shall be deducted for each wrong answer i.e. one mark shall be deducted for every 3 wrong answers.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET): The criterion for the PET will be as under:

- For Male Candidates: Should be able to run for a distance of 1500 meters in 6 minutes in one chance.
- For Female Candidates: Should be able to run for a distance of 400 meters in 3 minutes in one chance.
